      She married Mikkel Arneson Fønhus, son of Arne Arnesen Fønhus and Anne Hermannsdatter Hølersetre, in 1877 at Oppland.¹ She purchased Goplen, Nordre Land, Oppland with her husband and her brother Anders Olssen Storruste. After the death of her husband her brother helped her raise the children.⁴ Her husband, Mikkel Arneson, died from a stroke (hjerneslag) on 21 July 1894 at Goplen, Nordre Land, Oppland.^1,5

     Mikkel Arneson Fønhus was born on 11 December 1853 at Fønhus søndre, Sør-Aurdal, Oppland.^1,2 He was christened on 25 December 1853 at Bagn sogn, Sør-Aurdal prestegjeld, Oppland.^3,2

     He appeared on the 1865 Census at Fønhus søndre, Sør-Aurdal, Oppland, with his father and step-mother, as: Mikkel Arnesen, his Son (hans Søn), age 13, born in Sør-Aurdal parish.(See household and details).⁴

      He married Guri Olsdatter Storruste, daughter of Ole Christopherson Goplerud and Gjertrud Andersdatter Storruste, in 1877 at Oppland.¹ Mikkel Arneson Fønhus purchased Goplen, Nordre Land, Oppland with his wife and brother-in-law Anders Olssen Storruste.⁵

     He wanted the family to use Fønhus as their last name, but his children used Goplen, after the farm were they were born and raised.⁶ He died on 21 July 1894 at Goplen, Nordre Land, Oppland, from a stroke (hjerneslag), at age 40.^1,7 He was buried on 28 July 1894 at Torpa sogn, Nordre Land prestegjeld, Oppland.⁷

      William Waldemar Ebeltoft was also known as Johan Wiliam Valdemar Ebeltoft.² He was born in 1854 at Vadsø by, Vadsø, Finnmark.¹

     Justine Anette Aare was born illegitimate on 13 October 1855 at Trondheim, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag.¹ She was christened on 2 December 1855 at Vår Frue, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag.¹ She was practically orphaned by the death of Elen Martha Levanger, who died of childbed fever (barselfeber) on 19 May 1862 at Bakklandet, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag.² Her father was a sailor, so she and her two siblings moved to foster homes. In the 1865 census all three are in different, though geographically close, fosterhomes, while their father is living with a new wife and child.

     Justine Anette Aare was listed on the Norwegian Census of 1865 living at Bakken, Ørland, Ørland, Sør-Trøndelag, as a fosterchild, age 11, born in Trondheim.³

     Justine Anette Aare was listed on the Norwegian Census of 1875 living at Gaubekveiten 3, Trondheim, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, as a servant (Tjenestepige), born 1855 in Trondheim (Fru Sogn Trondheim).⁴ She and Petter Andreas Holum had a child, Ingeborg Hansine Kristine Holum, out of wedlock on 25 March 1880.⁵

     Mari Ellingsdatter was born illegitimate on 6 February 1856 at Røsbyeie (Tuftin), Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.² She was christened on 13 April 1856 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Witnesses were Kristoffer Torstensen, Ole Tufting and Kari Andersdatter.²

     She appeared on the 1865 Census at Tuftin, Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud, with her grandparents/foster parents, as: Mari Ellingsdatter, their foster daughter (deres fosterdt) 10.(See household and details).¹ She was confirmed on 24 April 1870 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.³ She married Ole Jonassen Berger on 12 November 1893 at Norderhov, Norderhov, Buskerud.⁴

     Mari Ellingsdatter was listed on the Norwegian Census of 1900 living at Paulshalden, Norderhov, Buskerud, as lodger, widow, laborer in the pulp mill (Arbeiderske ved Træsliberi), born 1856 in Lunder.⁵ She married Johan Alfred Olsen on 20 April 1902 at Norderhov, Norderhov, Buskerud.⁶

     Paul Knudson was born on 16 February 1856 at Bergsundeie, Ådal, Buskerud.^3,4 He was christened on 6 July 1856 at Viker sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Witnesses were Marit Gulbrandsdatter and Anders Torstensen.^3,4

     He appeared on the 1875 Census at Odda, Ådal, Buskerud, with his parents, as: Paul Knudson, absent, presumed to be in Lunder Norderhaug at the time of the census, Knud Tors. Son (Knud Tors Søn), unmarried (ug), Helps his father (Hjelper Faderen Knud Odden), 1856, Hval Aadalen.(See household and details).⁶ Knut Torstensen Odda and Paul Knudson served as witness at the wedding of Johan Knudsen and Julie Margrethe Andersdatter Somdalsbråten on 1 May 1876 at Ådal sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.^4,7 He emigrated on 3 May 1878 from Ådal, Buskerud, to America.^8,9,4 He is probably the Paul Knudson appearing on the US census of 23 June 1880 at Eau Claire, Eau Claire, Wisconsin,, as Knutson, Paul, 25, boarder, laborer and mill hand, born in Norway.¹⁰

     He appeared on the US census of 22 June 1900 at Veazie, Washburn, Wisconsin, with his nephew's family, as: Paul Knudson, uncle, day laborer, born Jan 1856 in Norway, immgrated 1878.(See household and details).¹¹ He married Olava Halvorsdatter before 1905.

     He appeared on the US census of 1 June 1905 at Arland, Barron, Wisconsin, with his wife and her children, as: Paul Knudson, head of household, 49 years old, born in Norway, Farmer, with farm owned freely.(See household and details).¹²

     He appeared on the US census of 19 April 1910 at Arland, Barron, Wisconsin, with his wife and step-children, as: Paul Knudson, head of household, 54 years old, born in Norway, immigrated 1878, farmer of mortgaged farm.(See household and details).² He immigrated in 1911 without his wife and step-children to Stanger, Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta, and never returned.¹³ He and Olava Halvorsdatter were divorced either before or after Paul emigrating to Canada.

     He appeared on the Canadian census of 1916 at T55 R6 W5, Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta, without his wife and step-children, but next door to nephews Nils and Christ, as: Paul Knudson, head of household, single, 60 years old, immigrated 1911, farmer.(See households and details).¹³ Paul Knudson was granted a letter of patent confirming his title to his homstead at NE 30, township 55, range 5, Stanger, Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta in 1917.¹⁴ He died on 22 November 1933 at Stanger, Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta, at age 77, leaving his homestead to niece-in-law Anna.^15,16 He is buried at Stanger cemetery, Stanger, Lac Ste. Anne, Alberta.¹⁵

     Johan August Kristiansen was born on 27 July 1856 at Myra (u Vig), Enebakk, Akershus.¹ He was christened on 3 August 1856 at Enebakk, Akershus.¹ Thea and Johan and their parents were registered as moved from Enebakk, Akershus, to til Aker on 29 April 1864.²

     Gunhild Kristoffersdatter was born on 6 March 1857 at Røsbyeie, Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.^1,2 She was christened on 9 April 1857 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Witnesses were Ole Torstensen Tuftin, Anders Torstensen Tuftin and Inger Nielsdatter.²

     Olava Halvorsdatter was born on 8 December 1857 at Henseie, Norderhov, Buskerud.¹ She was christened on 13 February 1858 at Norderhov, Buskerud.¹ She married Helge Syversen on 29 November 1887 at Ytre Ådal (Hval) sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.² She married Paul Knudson, son of Knut Torstensen Odda and Inger Torine Gulbrandsdatter, before 1905. As of 1905,her married name was Olava Knutson.³

     She appeared on the US census of 1 June 1905 at Arland, Barron, Wisconsin, with her second husband and her children, as: Olava Knutson, wife, 45 years old, born in Norway.(See household and details).³

     He appeared on the 1865 Census at Hallingbye, Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud, with his mother and half brother, as: Ole Ellingsen, her son (hendes Søn), 9.(See household and details).² Half brothers Ole Ellingsen and Torsten Ellingsen were confirmed on 27 April 1873 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.³

     Olava Knudsdatter emigrated USA.² She was born on 15 February 1858 at Ådal, Buskerud.^1,2 She was christened on 20 June 1858 at Ådal, Buskerud.^3,2

     She appeared on the 1865 Census at Odda, Ådal, Buskerud, with her parents, as: Olava Knudsdatter, their daughter (deres Datter), aged 8.(See household and details).⁴

     She appeared on the 1875 Census at Odda, Ådal, Buskerud, with her parents, as: Olava Knudsdatter, absent, presumed to be in Lunder Norderhaug at the time of the census, Knud's Daughter (Knuds Datter), unmarried (ug), 1856, Hval Aadalen.(See household and details).⁵ She emigrated on 27 May 1881 from Ådal, Buskerud, destination given as Bradhead (probably Brodhead, Wisconsin).⁶ Olava is most likely who her niece Thora refers to when she writes: One daughter (of Knut Torstensen Odda) and family burnt up in Hinkly fire. Further evidence is hard to come by as not all victims of the forest fire that struck Hinckley and several other Pine County, Minnesota towns on September 1st 1894 were identified or identifiable.⁷

      Torsten Ellingsen was also known as Torsten Ellingsen Lure.² He was born illegitimate on 7 June 1858 at Røsbyeie (Tuftin), Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.^3,1 On 15 August 1858 his parents married.^4,1 He was christened on 15 August 1858 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Witnesses were Kristoffer Torstensen and Kari Andersdatter.³

     He appeared on the 1865 Census at Lure, Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud, with his parents, as: Torsten Ellingsen, their son (deres Søn), 8.(See household and details).¹ Half brothers Torsten Ellingsen and Ole Ellingsen were confirmed on 27 April 1873 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.⁵ He married Maren Otilie Olsdatter, daughter of Ole Iversen, on 26 January 1880 at Norderhov, Buskerud.⁶ Anne Marie Torstensdatter is born the day after her parents wedding. I find this a bit dubious and it even looks like the day was changed from 26 to 27 in the baptism record.⁷

     He appeared on the 1900 Census at Eriksrud, østre, Lunner, Oppland, with his wife and children, as: Torsten Ellingsen, head of household (hf), crofter with land (Husmand m J), born 1858, Norderhaug Ringerike.(See household and details).⁸

     Annette Andersdatter was born on 24 March 1859 at Røsbyeie, Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.^2,3 She was christened on 10 April 1859 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Witnesses were Elling Torstensen, Mari Paulsdatter Tuftin and Kari Andersdatter.²

     She appeared on the 1865 Census at Hallom, Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud, with her parents, as: Annette Andersdatter, their daughter (deres Datter), 7, Nordrehovs Prgj..(See household and details).¹

     Andrine Olava Christensdatter was born illegitimate on 17 August 1859 at Norderhov, Buskerud.¹ She was christened on 4 September 1859 at Norderhov, Buskerud.¹ Her mother married Andreas Jørgensen on 2 April 1865 at Hønefoss kirke, Hønefoss, Ringerike, Buskerud.²

     Ingeborg Hilda Marie Aare was born on 30 April 1860 at Stensbakken, Bakklandet, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag.¹ She was christened on 29 July 1860 at Bakklandet, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag.¹ She was practically orphaned by the death of Elen Martha Levanger, who died of childbed fever (barselfeber) on 19 May 1862 at Bakklandet, Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag.² He was a sailor, and couldn't take care of the children after the death of their mother. At the 1865 census he's listed with a new wife and child, while his older children are all in foster homes.

     Ingeborg Hilda Marie Aare was listed on the Norwegian Census of 1865 living at Grande, Sør-Trøndelag, as a fosterchilde, age 6, born in Trondhiem.³

     Thea Johnsdatter Hvitmyr was born on 22 December 1860 at Hvitmyr, Ådal, Buskerud.^2,3 She was christened on 2 June 1861 at Ytre Ådal (Hval) sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.² She married Edvard Knutsen, son of Knut Torstensen Odda and Inger Torine Gulbrandsdatter, on 15 November 1882 at Ytre Ådal (Hval) sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Gulbrand Tuftin and John Nilsen Hvitmyr served as witnesses.^4,1

     She appeared on the 1900 Census at Vitmyr (øvre), Ådal, Buskerud, with her husband and children, as: Thea Johnsdatter Hvitmyr, Housework(Husgjerning), 1860.(See household and details).⁵

     Klemet Nilsen Tandberg was born in 1861 at Modum, Buskerud.¹ He married Johanne Ellingsdatter, daughter of Elling Torstensen and Marie Gulbrandsdatter, on 19 July 1890 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.¹

     He appeared on the 1900 Census at Hammerbrogate 93, Hønefoss, Ringerike, Buskerud, with his wife, children and two lodgers, as: Klemet Nilsen Tandberg, head of household (hf), labourer (arbeider), born 1861, Modum Bu.(See household and details).² He died on 24 October 1904 at Riperbakken Kvernbergsundsødegård, Norderhov, Buskerud, of a heart condition (Hjertesygdom).³ He was buried on 2 November 1904 at Norderhov, Buskerud.³

     Edvard Knutsen was born on 15 April 1861 at Bergsundeie, Ådal, Buskerud.^1,2,3 He was christened on 13 October 1861 at Ådal, Buskerud.^1,3

     He appeared on the 1865 Census at Odda, Ådal, Buskerud, with his parents, as: Edvard Knutsen, their son (deres Søn), aged 5.(See household and details).⁴

      Johan Andersen Tuft was also known as Johan Andersen Tuftin.¹ He was born on 20 November 1861 at Røsbyeie (Hallom), Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud.^2,3 He was christened on 2 February 1862 at Lunder sogn, Ringerike, Buskerud. Witnesses were Kristoffer Torstensen and Kari Andersdatter.³
